Description: In “Project 22”, 22 artists were given 22 months to create an artwork using the same book as the starting point “The Brisbane River: a pictorial history” by Robert Longhurst and William Douglas (1997).
My response was to use the images in this book as inspiration to create four books of my own experiences of the river, both good and bad.
Book One: TRANQUIL WATERS
In this book I show how much I enjoy the Brisbane River when it flows peacefully
Book Two: RECOLLECTIONS & REFLECTIONS
In this book I describe the connections I feel to some of the images in the original book
Book Three: TURBULENT TORRENTS
In this book I express my horror of floods and how the flood in January 2011 affected me
Book Four: LIFE FLOWS ON
In this book I explain how I have used my art as post-flood therapy
Displayed as part of “Project 22” at various Brisbane venues in 2013.
