Emergence

Materials: handmade paper, plant fibres,fabrics, inks

Technique:  basketry, paper making, paper collage, found objects, calligraphy

Size: each up to 100 x 50 x 50 cm

Description: Pod-like basketry structures in natural fibres are embellished them with lettering about birth and regeneration. This assemblage, with its stylised cocoons, seed pods and nests, portrays the emergence of new life and the transformations of metamorphosis, hatching and sprouting.

Created with Jill Brose as one of the collaborative projects during my 2012 Artist-in-Residency at Brisbane Botanic Gardens, Mt Coot-tha.
