Inner Glow (Fragile Outer Shell)
Materials: egg-shaped lamp, hand-made Cyperus paper
Technique: papermaking, cut-paper lettering design, paper collage
Size: 35 x 20 (diameter) cm
Description: Through cracks in the paper-thin covering of each person’s outward persona we can glimpse the changing colours of the moods and emotions of the true inner self within. This covering is our interface with the outer world and, while protecting us, it is also exposing us. In this egg-shaped illuminated sculpture our EGO, HOPES, AMBITIONS, INSPIRATIONS, INHIBITIONS and PREJUDICES are revealed as words cut from the paper-shell.
Selected for display in the Papermakers of Queensland “Coverings” exhibition at Gallery 159 in 2007.
Displayed in “Undercurrents” at Art Factory Gallery in 2011 and “The Language of Nature I” at Richard Randall Studio in 2012.
