Tricia

Tricia Smout is an artist and registered teacher, living and working in Brisbane, Queensland.

She teaches calligraphy, artist bookmaking and paper crafts to adults and children in TAFE, schools, and privately.

As a calligrapher, she offers personalised service to create unique, reasonably-priced hand-lettering for all occasions.

In addition to practical applications, Tricia creates artworks - including books, hangings, wearable art and sculptures. She utilises many different techniques in a wide range of media, including paper folding, paper collage, papier mache, embossing, applique, patchwork, embroidery, knitting, crochet, tapestry, felting and ceramics. She especially loves incorporating lettering and other symbols in her work by creating designs based on letters, words, numbers, patterns and signs.

She has studied with many internationally-renowned calligraphers and has won various awards. Her work has been published in several highly-regarded craft journals and she has exhibited in galleries in Queensland, interstate and overseas. Her work has been purchased by private collectors in Queensland, south-east Asia and USA.
