Handwriting & Calligraphy

The style of handwriting taught in Qld schools was changed in 1984, and many teachers and aides have not had sufficient training.

This In-service class can be tailored to suit your school’s individual needs.

Now that the initial impetus of the “Handwriting Reform” has passed, many teachers receive inadequate training in the Queensland Modern Cursive script and don’t feel confident teaching handwriting. These classes provide basic instruction or revision of Beginner’s Alphabet and Qld Modern Cursive.
Even fewer teachers practise calligraphy, with any real understanding.

This course is specifically aimed at teachers and teacher-aides who want to increase their own knowledge of letterforms to help their students, and also to produce eye catching classroom charts, photocopyable masters, or indeed cards and gifts.

Ideally the class is taught as a 5-hour unit, but can be reduced to 3 hours if necessary.

These courses have been taught at Corinda, Redbank Plains and Mt Crosby State Schools and at Catholic Schools Area Conferences.
