Description: This little booklet contains quotes about co-dependence in the natural world, and the intricate inter-connections between man and his environment. It emphasizes the importance of preserving the balance of nature for future generations.
The book is a variation of a “maze book” in which the paper was cut and then re-connected to form a meandering message about the “Web of Life”. This seemed to be an appropriate structure in which to highlight the intricacies and hidden depths of man’s relationship with the natural world.
On each cover is a unique collage which contains some hand-spun, hand-dyed yarns and fibres. Some of these come from plants (cotton, flax, jute), while others are animal fibres (wool, mohair, silk) and yet others are synthetic man-made fibres. Thus this collage represents the diversity and individuality of each component of our world (living and non-living; animal vegetable or mineral), and how they are each intertwined to form the Web of Life, the underlying basis for the continued survival of our fragile planet.
